Toilet Terms Defined
|
One Piece Toilet Like the name suggests, this toilet is one complete unit.
This allows for easy cleaning by eliminating those nooks and crannies that bacteria like to hide in.
Two Piece Toilet With this toilet, the tank and bowl come separately then are coupled together. These toilets are generally less expensive than the one piece design. This toilet is also known as a close coupled toilet.
Trapway The trapway is the snake-like tubing at the sides of your toilet which water flushes through. The better designed and larger the trapway, the less chances there are for clogs.
Skirted Enclosing the trapway with a smooth covering, allowing for easy cleaning and an elegant look.
Elongated Bowl The bowl has an oval shape and extended front rim to provide maximum comfort, and added style.
Round Bowl A more traditional bowl, the round design is ideal for bathrooms with limited space.
Flush Valve Located at the center of the tank, this valve is activated by the toilet’s flush handle and releases the water held in the tank. A larger flush valve increases the water flow rate through the toilet.
Gravity Flush system This system uses nothing more than water weight to generate flushing pressure. It’s quiet, simple, and requires less maintenance than other, more complex flushing systems.
Pressure Assisted Flush System A pressurized air tank assists the toilet’s flushing process. This system can be very noisy, more expensive, and can require regular, costly maintenance. |

What is SanaGloss?

With UniFit Rough-in's, installation is simple as you have no mis-alignment, no faulty seal, and no collapsing wax ring. Skirted toilets are also great because they have a larger footprint, which help to cover up floor imperfections from the previous toilet.

TOTO Washlets |
What is a Washlet?
A Washlet is a toilet seat with warm water, bidet style washing. It is a replacement toilet seat, and can be installed on a new or existing toilet, the same as any regular toilet seat. A Washlet will typically have additional functions and features, depending on the model and price range.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How does a Washlet work?
It is activated by pressing a button, and in turn a wand will extends from the seat to cleanse you with a stream of gentle, aerated warm water. After cleansing, the wand retracts back under the seat. All installations require a 110VAC GFI outlet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are the features?
Each Washlet has different features and price points. Browse our TOTO Washlets section to choose the model right for you.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is needed for installation?
Although you can install a Washlet by yourself, it is recommended you use a licensed plumber. Each Washlet comes complete with all necessary installation hardware. Remember that you will need to provide a 110VAC GFI outlet near the toilet.
You can also view/download installation guides in our TOTO Installation Guides section
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why a Washlet is better than a bidet.
TOTO offers several Washlet products that have more functionality than a bidet.
If you are a bidet user, you might appreciate these points:
- The concept behind a bidet is excellent; washing with water provides better hygiene than using just toilet paper. But bidets represent antiquated technology, like a horse drawn carriage. Today, we no longer need the horse to pull us, because our carriages are powered by engines.
- Washlets replace the need for a separate bidet fixture, reducing space used in your bathroom.
- Washlets generally costs less to install than the installation of a bidet fixture.
- Washlets are more convenient to use than bidets.
- You do not have to hop, with your pants/pantyhose around your ankles, from the toilet to the bidet. Washlets are mounted on toilets just like a toilet seat.
- You do not have to sit facing the wall like you do on a bidet, on Washlets you face forward.
- You do not have to turn on, wait and adjust water temperature; Washlets always have on demand heated water.
- You do not have to sit or squat over a cold bidet rim, Washlets have comfortable, ergonomic seats, some with optional warm seat features.
- Some Washlets have convenient remote control for easy use. These can be wall-mounted beside you, and offer on-off and water pressure adjustments

TOTO Neorest |
Neorest Functionality
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are Neorest's
features?
The Neorest has an innovative cyclone flush
engine. The NEOREST seat's multi-task functions provide gentle front-and back-aerated warm water spray, which can be regulated for preferred water pressure and temperature. Other technologically-advanced features include oscillating spray massage, heated seat, automatic catalytic air
purifier, and warm air dryer all of which are governed by TOTO's revolutionary energy-saving
mode.
What are some of the “AUTOMATIC” features?
- Automatically
opens lid
- Automatic flush /
seat & lid closure
- Automatic
air purifier
The NEOREST's lid
(not seat) automatically opens whenever an individual approaches it. When the individual leaves, the NEOREST automatically flushes and the lid automatically
closes 6 seconds after user leaves sensor zone.
With this convenient button-based, remote control luxury feature, one need never worry about forgetting to flush or close the lid.
Exclusive, too, is the NEOREST's Power Catalytic Air Purifier function, which automatically engages when a user rises from the seat. This technologically-advanced feature effectively eliminates unpleasant odors. The NEOREST's Automatic Power Deodorize may also be manually engaged at any time with the mere flip of a switch.
REMOTE CONTROL: what are the functions?
The Neorest comes with a wireless remote control and all toilet and Washlet functions can be
handled via the remote: motorized seat (up, down, temperature), water temperature, Cyclone flush, massage,
oscillate, and change wand
position.
How long can I use the Washlet before running out of warm water?
The Neorest uses an instantaneous water heater to provide endless warm water.
What is Fuzzy Logic?
The process through which the sensors & circuit board record a pattern of usage. The
pattern is used to instruct the unit to go into “Power Save” mode (decrease seat temp, turn off water heater).
What is the flushing performance like?
The “Cyclone” Siphon Jet flush has the equivalent strength of Power Gravity. It is a
3-stage flush: 1st, a swirling (cyclone) rim wash (1.5L). 2nd, a powerful siphon jet sends the waste through the trap (1.5L). 3rd, the bowl is cleaned and refilled by the swirling (cyclone) rim wash (3L).
What is the “LIGHT FLUSH”?
When the Neorest is in “Auto Flush” mode, AND both the lid & seat have been up for
more than 6 seconds, the toilet will flush only 1.2 gallons (versus 1.6).
What if there is a power outage and I have no electricity?
The Neorest has a MANUAL OVERRIDE flush.
What if I do not want to use the Washlet functions?
There is a Washlet shut-off, located on the left hand side of the casing.
Neorest Colors
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What
colors are available?
The Neorest is available in three
colors. A pure white called Cotton. An off-white called Colonial White. And a beige called Sedona Beige.

Colors
appearance may vary depending on monitor
settings.
Neorest Installation
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I install a Neorest on my existing plumbing?
YES - as long as you have a 12” Rough-in
and your water supply is located
approximately 11” off-center.
Does the Neorest work with a 10” or 14” rough-in?
NO (not yet).
Do I need special plumbing/wiring to use the
Neorest?
NO - the water supply connection is standard 1/2 inch, and the unit plugs into a
standard 120 Volt AC (GFCI (fused)) outlet.
What is the required WATER PRESSURE?
You need a MINIMUM of 20PSI. The MAXIMUM is 80PSI
Use a minimum water supply pressure of 10PSI (0.07Mpa) flowing.
(Warranty valid only if the water pressure is between 20 and 80
PSI).
I want to install a shelf above the toilet - how much clearance should I have?
Toto USA recommends at least 10” of clearance above the top of the Neorest.
Note: that this may effect the remote control's placement in the bathroom.
Neorest Maintenance/Cleaning:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How do I clean my Neorest?
The Neorest bowl has Sanagloss glaze and a smooth rim (no rim holes), making it
easy to clean with non-abrasive household cleaners.
Should I clean the water strainer and air filter at regular intervals?
Check the water filter in the shutoff valve every 3 months (more often if your water is
hard). Clean the air inlet screen once a month (more often if your air is dusty).
How can I be sure the Washlet nozzle is clean?
Every time the Washlet is used, the nozzle is rinsed BEFORE AND AFTER USE with
fresh water. For manual cleaning, you can extend the nozzle for cleaning using the remote control.
How do I WINTERIZE my Neorest? (“We have it installed in our summer home…”)
Turn off the water supply and drain the Washlet. The siphon jet supply line is
insulated, but a small amount of antifreeze may be added to the bowl to prevent freezing.
